Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring

2025 Nominations Now Open

The SCP Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring Award recognizes midcareer consumer psychologists who have demonstrated excellence in doctoral mentorship and a commitment to developing the next generation of scholars. Because this award is designed to recognize excellence in midcareer, nominees must have completed their Ph.D. between 8 and 15 years from the year in which they will receive the award.

The criteria for the award are based on having a substantial record of training and mentoring doctoral students, which could include not only formally advising and placing doctoral students, but also serving on doctoral dissertation committees, other formal mentoring relationships with doctoral students, and mentoring-related activities (e.g., co-authorship with doctoral students). Thus, scholars from institutions with and without doctoral programs are eligible for this award. No more than one Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring in Mid-career Award can be named in any given year
