Pierre Chandon Wins 2026 Fellow Award
San Diego, CA – The Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP) proudly announces that Dr. Pierre Chandon, L’Oréal Chaired Professor of Marketing, Innovation and Creativity at INSEAD, has been honored with the prestigious SCP Fellow Award at the 2026 Annual Conference in San Diego, CA. This award represents the highest distinction within SCP, recognizing Dr. Chandon’s extraordinary contributions to consumer psychology through his influential research and dedicated service to the field.
The SCP Fellow Award is reserved for scholars who earned their Ph.D. over 15 years ago and have made outstanding and unusual contributions to consumer psychology. Dr. Chandon’s pioneering research has significantly advanced understanding of how marketing can be aligned with consumer health and wellbeing. His work on food choice, portion perception, and behavioral nudges has shaped both academic research and real-world policy and practice, offering innovative approaches to improving consumer outcomes.
Dr. Chandon’s scholarly impact is reflected in his extensive publication record in leading journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science, as well as top psychology and nutrition journals. His research has received multiple best paper awards, including the Journal of Consumer Research Best Article Award (2010, 2014) and the O’Dell Award (2012) for long-term contribution to marketing. His work is widely cited and has been featured in global media outlets such as The New York Times, The Economist, Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
Beyond his scholarship, Dr. Chandon has demonstrated exceptional service and leadership within the consumer research community. He has served as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Consumer Research and currently sits on the editorial boards of numerous leading journals, including the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research. He is also a Policy Board member of the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research and has contributed to SCP through service on program committees, including the Florence and Phoenix conferences. His leadership extends to the Association for Consumer Research, where he has served in key roles such as International Perspectives Director.
Dr. Chandon earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from HEC Paris and has held faculty positions at INSEAD, London Business School, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as visiting appointments at institutions including Kellogg, Wharton, and Harvard Business School. In addition to his research, he is an award-winning educator and a globally recognized thought leader who bridges academia, industry, and public policy. At INSEAD, he teaches brand management and courses on food and wellbeing, and has received multiple teaching honors for excellence in the classroom.
The award was presented during the 2026 SCP Annual Conference, held at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp District. This year’s conference, themed “Cultivating Connections,” was chaired by Tracy Rank-Christman (University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee), Sonja Prokopec (ESSEC Business School, Singapore), and Anthony Salerno (Vanderbilt University). The theme emphasized building a thriving and supportive scholarly community by fostering meaningful relationships, encouraging collaboration, and promoting constructive and empathetic engagement across all career stages.
