Shiri Melumad Wins 2025 Early Career Award

Las Vegas, NV – The Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP) is proud to announce that Dr. Shiri Melumad, Associate Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, has been awarded the SCP Early Career Award at the 2025 Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV. This award honors emerging scholars whose research demonstrates exceptional promise in shaping the future of consumer psychology.

The SCP Early Career Award is given to researchers within eight years of receiving their Ph.D. and recognizes their scholarly impact rather than sheer productivity. No more than two recipients are selected in any given year.

Dr. Melumad’s research explores the consumer psychology of technology usage, new media and user-generated content, and digital marketing. Her work has been published in top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Marketing. Her insights into how consumers engage with digital platforms and media have already made a significant impact on the field, influencing both academic thought and industry practices.

Dr. Melumad holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Marketing from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, as well as a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University. Her research sheds light on how evolving technologies shape consumer behavior, providing valuable perspectives on user interactions with digital and mobile platforms.

The award was presented during the 2025 SCP Annual Conference, themed “Amplifying our Impact to Enhance Consumers’ Lives,” chaired by Claudia Townsend (University of Miami), Alice Wang (University of Iowa), and Danny Zane (Lehigh University). The event brought together leading scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss and advance the field of consumer psychology.
