Stephanie Lin Wins 2025 Early Career Award

Las Vegas, NV – The Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP) is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephanie Lin, Assistant Professor of Marketing at INSEAD, has been awarded the SCP Early Career Award at the 2025 Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV. This prestigious award recognizes emerging scholars whose research demonstrates exceptional promise in shaping the field of consumer psychology.

The SCP Early Career Award is given to researchers within eight years of earning their Ph.D. and acknowledges the scholarly impact of their work rather than sheer productivity. No more than two recipients are named each year.

Dr. Lin’s research explores how consumers maintain a self-image of virtue and goodness in everyday life, particularly when navigating the tension between virtuous aspirations—such as healthy eating, saving money, and charitable giving—and indulgent desires. Her work examines the psychological mechanisms that allow individuals to reconcile these conflicting motivations while preserving their moral self-concept.

Her research has been published in top academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Consumer Psychology Review.

Dr. Lin received her Ph.D. in Marketing with a minor in Psychology from Stanford University. Before joining INSEAD, she was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Singapore Management University, where she taught Consumer Behavior. Prior to academia, she was a teacher at Phillips Exeter Academy, an experience that continues to inform her approach to mentorship and education.

The award was presented during the 2025 SCP Annual Conference, themed “Amplifying our Impact to Enhance Consumers’ Lives,” chaired by Claudia Townsend (University of Miami), Alice Wang (University of Iowa), and Danny Zane (Lehigh University). The event brought together leading scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss and advance the field of consumer psychology.
