Kelly Haws Wins 2025 Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award

Las Vegas, NV – The Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP) is proud to announce that Dr. Kelly Haws, Anne Marie and Thomas B. Walker, Jr. Chair and Professor of Marketing at Vanderbilt University, has been awarded the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award at the 2025 SCP Annual Conference. This prestigious award recognizes scholars whose research has made a lasting impact on the field of consumer psychology.

Dr. Haws is a leading expert in consumer behavior, with a particular focus on food decision-making, consumer welfare, and behavioral pricing. Her research explores how consumers navigate self-control challenges in health and financial contexts, shedding light on the psychological processes behind everyday decision-making. Her work has been published in top academic journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Management Science, among others.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Haws has received numerous accolades, including being named an MSI Young Scholar (2009) and MSI Scholar (2018). She was also the recipient of the Early Career Award from the Association for Consumer Research (2013). In addition to her scholarly contributions, she plays a significant role in shaping the field through editorial leadership, serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, as well as on the editorial boards of multiple leading journals.

Dr. Haws earned her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of South Carolina and currently teaches Consumer Analysis and Principles of Marketing at Vanderbilt. Her work continues to influence both academic research and real-world marketing strategies.

The award was presented during the 2025 SCP Annual Conference, themed “Amplifying our Impact to Enhance Consumers’ Lives,” chaired by Claudia Townsend (University of Miami), Alice Wang (University of Iowa), and Danny Zane (Lehigh University). The event brought together leading scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss and advance the field of consumer psychology.
